Intro: This takes place a few months after the events of Portal 2. Chell has decided to stay at Aperture Science for the foreseeable future. As she is no longer needed for testing, she is instead inventing things. Also she has begun to talk.

Chapter One
The Inkling
Chell woke up one day in late fall and got dressed in a shirt and jeans. She no longer wore her jumpsuit. After she got dressed, she ran down to the turret factory to try out a new idea she had come up with. The turrets greeted her as she picked one up. “Where are you taking me?” it asked. Chell replied, “I am going to try to make you able to walk on your own.” The turret became excited at this as Chell took it to a room that she had found. A long time ago it had been an OR. From the recordings in the old building, Chell had found out that this had been used to take out tumors. She placed the turret on the operating table. “Now go to sleep and when you wake up you’ll be able to walk,” said Chell. The turret tried to go to sleep, but couldn’t. “Need help?” asked a familiar voice with a huge sigh. GLaDOS had found Chell, but now Chell was no longer frightened of what would happen; instead she was hopeful that GLaDOS would help. “This turret is having trouble sleeping,” said Chell. GLaDOS sighed again and said, “Here, let me try: turret, go to sleep.” The turret immediately went into sleep mode. Chell smiled. “Thank you, GLaDOS. I wanna try to make it able to walk. If it works on this one, I can do it on all the others and then it can become part of the default design.” GLaDOS said, “That idea is actually pretty good. If you can pull this off, I’ll start thinking that allowing you to stay here wasn’t such a mistake. In the meantime, I’ll send the bots over with some materials.” Chell thanked GLaDOS again and began to work on the turret.
A few hours later, the surgery was done and Chell hoped that it was a success. She carried the sleeping turret down to the oldest part of the building she could reach. She then set the turret down and told it to wake up. She sighed when it didn’t move. She pushed it. Nothing happened. Chell was about to give up when a male voice came over the loudspeaker, saying, “Wake up!” Chell jumped as the turret woke up. Chell tried to calm down as she ran over to the wall. “Who’s there?” she asked. She knew none of the prerecorded messages sounded like that. None were as short as that. She walked out the door. “Hey, who’s there?” she repeated, louder this time. “I can help you, whoever you are! You don’t need to stay here alone! I’m not sure how you survived this long or how you got in here if you’re new, but we should work together! I invent things here. It would be nice to have another human to live with. At any rate, any food would be appreciated as well. But if you don’t have any, that’s okay too. We have a lot of potatoes over here that I’m pretty sure are safe to eat.” She was interrupted by the turret asking, “Is everything OK. Chell?” Chell was surprised to see that the turret was standing right beside her. “I just thought there was someone out there. But look at you: you’re walking!” The turret jumped in response. “This is so cool! Thank you, Chell!” Suddenly Chell heard footsteps from above her. “There is someone else here!” she said. She tried to find a way up there, but realized with a sinking feeling that she couldn’t. She wondered how someone was up there when she couldn’t get up there herself. “Maybe they’re trapped!” said the turret. Chell said, “We’ve got to go tell GLaDOS! She’ll know how to save him! Hey, maybe he’s a hunk and will want to date me after I’ve rescued him!” The turret replied, “You are hot, Chell. I think if there’s a man up there, he’ll go insane with lust as soon as he sees you.” Chell blushed at the forward compliment. “But I’m fat,” she said. The turret said, “Chell, you are NOT fat! You are NOT! I don’t care how many fat jokes Wheatley and GLaDOS made about you, they’re wrong and they know it! They were just trying to lower your self-esteem so it would be more difficult for you to test.” Suddenly Chell had the distinct feeling that she was needed upstairs in the main building. She lifted up the turret. “Let’s go back so you can show off your new skills!” said Chell with a smile as she made her way back. The turret seemed excited at this.
When Chell had made it back to the main building, she asked, “What’s up, GLaDOS?” GLaDOS replied, “There’s a situation in the cryogenic chambers. I just now got the cameras in the last ones working again, and found a huge problem. You have to go down there right now. Put the turret down; you’ll need both hands to deal with this.” Chell nodded and put the turret down. It immediately began to walk around as Chell found her way down to the extended relaxation center annex. “Which one is the problem in, GLaDOS?” asked Chell. GLaDOS replied, “The last one over on the left. Here, let me help you up.” Chell allowed herself to be lifted up and put into the room. When she looked around, she was shocked to see a man in the bed. “I thought all the humans were dead,” she murmured. She didn’t think this man could possibly be alive, but then again he was not a skeleton like the others. If he was dead, he had died recently. Chell slowly approached him. When she reached him, she gasped. He was extremely handsome. Chell’s heart fluttered a little. She ran her hand along his pale cheek and nearly jumped when she realized it was warm to the touch. “He’s alive!” she said as she felt his wrist for a pulse to confirm what she already knew. “That’s impossible, Chell. All the humans are dead,” said GLaDOS. “GLaDOS, he has a pulse. It’s a little weak, but it’s there. He’s alive, and he’s hot to boot. I think I just hit the jackpot, GLaDOS.” GLaDOS replied, “Do you want me to marry you two? I can do that you know.” Chell blushed hotly at the teasing. She kept running her hand along the man’s cheek. She had not seen a living man since she could remember. This one had long blonde hair and a face so beautiful it melted Chell’s heart. She wished he would open his eyes so she could see their color. “How do I wake him?” asked Chell. GLaDOS answered, “Chell, he’s dead. Face it: you’re the only human alive anymore in this facility. You felt a pulse because your brain tricked you into it. I’m sorry, but that’s the way it is. What are you doing?” Chell said, “I’m waking this man, with or without your help.” GLaDOS sighed loudly as Chell bent down and kissed the man’s lips. When she pulled back after several moments, she saw his face move slightly. “Wake up now, sweetheart,” said Chell. The man’s eyelids began to flutter. Then they slowly opened to reveal gorgeous blue eyes. “Hello, sweetie,” said Chell, smiling at the man. He smiled back for a few seconds. Chell quickly moved so that she wasn’t blocking the camera’s view of him. “See, GLaDOS? I TOLD you he was alive. Now help me make sure he stays alive,” said Chell softly, not taking her eyes from him. GLaDOS was for once speechless. Chell sat on the bed. Then she kissed him again. This time he kissed back. Suddenly, as they were kissing, the room began to move. Chell nearly fell over, but the man caught her before she did. “GLaDOS, what’s going on?” asked Chell. “Look above you, Chell,” replied GLaDOS. Chell obeyed and saw a core on the management rail. Chell smiled at it as it moved the room over to the docking station. “Could you please look away for a bit?” asked Chell. The core nodded and rolled inside itself. Chell immediately sat on the man’s lap and began kissing him again. This was addicting to her. It felt so good! The man kissed back again, an amused expression on his face. “Not to interrupt, but if you want your boy toy over there to live, you need to allow him to receive medical care. Who knows how long he’s been off of life support? He also needs to be assessed for injuries. There were some violent tremors whilst Wheatley was in charge.” Chell nodded and stood up. Then she turned to the man. “Come with me, I’ll take you to the medical section.”
